Support PE in Seattle Public Schools

This Wednesday, June 4th the Seattle School Board will consider proposed Policy No. 2185. The policy states that the Seattle School District will identify and commit funding for physical education as a core component of its curriculum, and ensure that the district is in compliance with State law pertaining to PE in schools.

Members of the Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition and other key local advocates will be present this Wednesday to testify on the importance of PE in reducing the risk of obesity and increasing school performance. However, we need YOU – as parents and citizens – to send your letters of support in advance of the Seattle School Board meeting so that are collective voices in support of this policy are loud and clear.

For talking points, please see the facts below and our letter to the School Board here.

Contact information for School Board members can be found here.

This policy will assure that high quality physical education reaches all students in the Seattle School District, in particular those students most impacted by childhood obesity.
