Opposing the House Farm Bill
Tuesday, June 18, 2013
This morning, the U.S. House of Representatives heard from us at COPC and dozens of other organizations backing an American Public Health Association written letter opposing the House version of the Farm Bill as it is currently written (read the letter here). Among other problems with the bill, chief among our concerns is the 2 million individuals who will lose their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits entirely and the slashing of the SNAP nutrition education funding that helps low-income families stretch limited resources to maximize nutrition.
The White House also issued a veto threat to the bill yesterday, which can be read here.
If you wish to keep food on millions of low income tables, we encourage you to write your legislator today.
