Statewide Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition Seeking Two Winter/Spring 2013 Interns

The Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition is seeking two Winter/Spring 2013 interns to support two key areas of its policy/advocacy work: food system policy research and sugary drink education.
Food system policy research: The intern supporting the Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition’s food system policy work will assist the Coalition in refining and distributing a critical tool for local and regional food policy councils that aims to provide change strategies for improving its food system. Tasks will include, but are not limited to: reviewing and incorporating expert feedback, performing research queries, and developing a plan to distribute the tool. This individual should have strong research and writing skills, as well as an interest in nutrition and food systems. Must be a masters level student.
Sugary drink education: This intern will use their marketing skills to support the Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition’s efforts to reduce overconsumption of soda and other sugary drinks, and to promote healthier alternatives. They will play a critical role in developing marketing and education materials and will assist in creating and implementing social media tactics to promoting institutional change and policy around healthy beverages. This person must have creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to be flexible. Masters level student in marketing/communications strongly preferred. Experience and/or interest in public health desired.
