Obesity Prevention Summit: Policy Solutions for a Healthier Washington
The Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition partnered with the American Heart Association and Seattle Children’s to host the “Obesity Prevention Summit: Policy Solutions for a Healthier Washington” on November 15, 2011 in Tukwila, WA. The interactive summit featured a variety of plenary and breakout sessions on topics ranging from “Fighting Childhood Obesity & Hunger with School Breakfast” to “Transportation Policy and Childhood Obesity”. Representative Laurie Jinkins, 27th Legislative District served as the Summit’s keynote and provided an audience of approximately 100 attendees from 48 organizations and 9 counties around Washington state, the “view from Olympia” on obesity prevention policy. Also noteworthy, was a plenary presentation led by UW Affiliate Professor and author Andrew Dannenberg, who provided his thoughts on how our built environments affect our health.
